All of the albums include printed music and a CD except where the the accompaniment may be downloaded. Many also include a full recording of all the pieces played by a well known performer. In addition to Music Minus One, we now carry play along CDs from other companies.

The pieces in this package are mostly at the upper intermediate/early college level. They are Antonio Vivaldi Concerto in A minor movement III. Allegro (2 tempos), Gordon Jacob Rhapsody, Warren Benson Farewell, and Maurice C. Whitney Rumba (we also have the music with piano for sale S485). Includes a CD with both a complete performance and the backing track.

M4132: Glazunov Concerto for Saxophone and Orchestra in E-flat major, Op. 109; von Koch Concerto for Saxophone and Orchestra in E-flat major. Lawrence Gwozdz, alto saxophone with the Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Nayden Todorov. Music Minus One/Hal Leonard, 2000. The audio is accessed online using the unique code inside each book and can be streamed or downloaded. The audio files include PLAYBACK+, a multi-functional audio player that allows you to slow down audio without changing pitch, set loop points, change keys, and pan left or right. The well known concerto by Russian composer Alexander Glazunov (1865-1936) is paired with the 1958 concerto by Swedish composer Erland von Koch (1910-). The term "montuno" comes from Cuban dance music. The Montuno Fugato section is very fast (mm=200). College level. The included CD has versions with clarinet and piano and with piano alone.   C762: Rivages I, II, III for clarinet or soprano saxophone and piano by François Grosborne. International Music Diffusion, 2000, SS, 15 + 4 pages (includes CD). Three relatively short related works at the college level. The first is mostly in 5/8 and the last mostly in 7/8 but they are quite accessible and rhythmic. The included CD has versions with clarinet and piano and with piano alone (played by the composer).

S859: Suite "Exposiciones" for Soprano Saxophone (opt. Alto Saxophone) and Piano by Javier Zalba. Advance Music, 2011, SS,  23 + 9 pages + CD. Dedicated to Paquito D'Rivera, this piece is a fusion of jazz and classical elements in four movements: Allegro Moderato, Lento, Allegretto, and Allegro con Fuoco. There are improvised sections in the first and last movement with suggested solos provided on separate sheets. The CD has the complete work performed by the composer and a piano only version for play along. They are Be Straight, So Slow and Shuffle Blues for You. All parts have solos (written out but with chords) at least once in the three pieces. The CD is unusual because it has versions without each of the parts (as well as a complete version for all pieces) so that each player can practice with the CD. The tenor part could also be used for soprano. Special playing techniques are explained and performance tips will help players achieve an authentic sound. All this, together with the CDs of demonstration performances and play-along tracks is sure to be inspirational. The pieces are Ciribiribella (Croatian), Mja mala (Hungarian), Makedonsko devojce (Macedonian), Moj dilbere (Bonia-Herzegovinian), Uzecko kolo (Serbian), Rampi Rampi (Turkish) and Svadbarsko horo (Bulgarian). The E-flat track includes an Alto Saxophonist playing the etudes. The B-flat track includes a Tenor Sax soloist and the C track includes a Jazz Guitarist. All are accompanied by a nice piano, bass, and drums rhythm section. Each track is stereo separated (solo instrument, piano, bass, drums on one track - piano, bass and drums on the other track) so that the soloist can be eliminated and the student can play along with piano bass and drums.

First are five jazz saxophone duets (Somewhere, Blues in A-flat, Waltz, Free Form No. 1, and Free Form Ballad) by Lee Konitz. The CD features tracks with both parts and with only the second part being played. The music has both saxophone parts and chord symbols. The parts for the player are generally at the upper intermediate level. The other four pieces (Basin Street Blues, Three Little Words, You Go to My Head, and Meditation) are a traditional New Orleans dixiland piece, two standards, and a bossa nova. They also have chord symbols plus written out solos.
